THE JOURNEY INWARDS
In this exhibition of paintings, Purau-based artist Damiet Loor explores The Art of Allowing. The Art of Allowing is an intuitive process in which the artist allows colour, movement and shape to arise, without any idea of what it will become. In The Journey Inwards there is a continuum from abstract dreamscapes to more detailed elements. Each painting tells a story, and is an invitation to the viewer for deeper engagement.
Loor describes her work as channelling The Divine Feminine, “which threads her way in different shapes and forms”. Damiet will also be running a painting workshop at Stoddart Cottage exploring The Art of Allowing - bookings essential through this link:
CANVAS AND CLAY
John Barry and Ruth Willis
Almost a century of creative experience converges on canvas and in clay in this joint exhibition by mature Diamond Harbour artists, Ruth Willis and John Barry. Ruth is a well-known potter in the community with a four-decade practice, while John has half a century behind him as a respected painter. The exhibition also incorporates a number of events at the Stoddart Cottage Gallery over the month. Ruth will be leading hands-on pottery demonstrations. John will be presenting a special Anzac Day talk around four of his paintings depicting heroic Kiwi airmen, before these move to permanent display at the Air Force Museum of NZ.
